Meet The Whiffens

We are a husband and wife duo that turned our passion for remodeling homes into a business. We live in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. We have three beautiful children and a mini farm! Our farm includes thirteen silkie chickens, three dogs, two cats, one fish, and a pig. We take pride in our work, and it shows with all the details we put into every project.

Five years ago, right after we got married, we purchased our first home together. We couldn't afford a newer, more modern home so we settled for an outdated two-story home with great bones. We decided to flip that home with a modern farmhouse flare. The results were amazing, and we enjoyed the entire process so much that we knew we wanted to do it again. We started doing some remodeling projects for our family and close friends. Everyone admired our work so much that we knew we could make others happy as well. This is how our remodeling and design business really launched.

We decided to take a leap of faith with the overflow of support from our family and friends and set-in-motion a successful small business. The name Whiffen’s Modern Farmhouse originates from most of our friends referring to our home as the Murrells Inlet Farm, along with our strong love for a modern touch. Our goal is to help people that either don’t have the time, can’t visualize the potential until something is completely finished, or need help in gathering a design idea. We want to know your thoughts and style preference so we can help you come up with a creative solution for your space. We want to make what you may think is impossible for your space, possible!

Throughout our projects, we discovered a trend of homeowners having a huge disconnect with their contractors. How many times do we fall victim of someone asking us what we want? That is just like trying to decide which restaurant to eat at! We do our best to highlight the character of each client’s home. We want to create spaces in your home that are original and unique to your style! If we can inspire our clients when they are feeling hopeless about a specific space, then we have accomplished our goal.

Since we are so passionate about what we do, you won’t have to worry about us not showing back up to finish a project we started! If we aren't able to custom-build something perfect for you, then we work with local companies in order to ensure you have the best of the best! We will do whatever it takes to get to your desired end results. We look forward to working with you and becoming friends throughout the process!

Our Mission

Our mission has been to give the locals a reliable company that listens, values their needs and shows up for them. Too often do the homeowners interest and style get over looked. We strive to make sure each space is a reflection of the homeowner.

We create original pieces and spaces. Each space includes a design package that will include décor and finishing pieces for the space. The hassle of decorating once a space is complete is gone. Use your space immediately with friends.

• We set up a day and time that works best for you. We are flexible with days and times.

• Consults typically take an hour

• After we have gathered all the information we need, you can expect an estimate within a week.

• Estimates are usually broken down ala carte so you have a chance to pick and choose what works best for you and your budget.

• Communication is Key! We respect honesty and if you want to change anything after an estimate is figured for you , we will make it happen!

• Be prepared to pay at least 50% down to start a job. Remaining balance is always collected at the end once YOU are satisfied and happy with your space!
